Dear Guests
Please excuse our mess...we are currently
undergoing renovations.
We will be adding an additional
20 rooms and Event Space that can accommodate up to 150 people and
we anticipate to be completed by Spring 2026.
The
Matheson rooms face the construction site and may be noisy at times
during the day, but we will do our best to help make your stay
enjoyable and comfortable.
We are pretty excited about
our renovation project and realize what an inconvenience it can be,
but we feel the end result will all be worth it.
During
construction elevator use will be limited to hours of operation -
Check with front desk associates for operational hours.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we
undergo these growling pains.
Sincerely
The
Princess Team

Tobermory is one of Ontario's most popular long weekend destinations — and one of the most quickly booked out. If you are planning a Victoria Day, Canada Day, or Thanksgiving weekend in Tobermory, here is exactly what you need to know, in the order you need to know it.
Victoria Day weekend — late May
Victoria Day (the last Monday before May 25) marks the unofficial opening of Tobermory's season. The ferry starts running, most restaurants open for the year, and the trails come alive with spring wildflowers and returning birds. Crowds are lighter than summer but growing every year.
• Book your hotel: 6 weeks in advance
• Book The Grotto permit: as soon as Parks Canada opens reservations in spring
• Weather: cool and changeable — bring layers, rain jacket, and waterproof footwear
• Highlight: orchid season begins — the Bruce Peninsula has over 40 wild orchid species
Canada Day weekend — July 1
Canada Day weekend is the single busiest long weekend in Tobermory. The harbour is packed, the trails are at maximum capacity, and room availability disappears months in advance. It is also genuinely spectacular — long summer days, warm water, and a real sense of celebration.
• Book your hotel: 4 to 6 weeks in advance
• Book The Grotto permit: the moment they go on sale — these sell out extremely fast
• Book Flowerpot Island boat tour: 4 to 6 weeks in advance
• Celebrations take place in harbour
Thanksgiving weekend — early October
Thanksgiving weekend in Tobermory is one of Ontario's best-kept secrets. The fall colours in the Bruce Peninsula forest are extraordinary — reds and oranges right down to the rocky shoreline. Crowds are significantly lighter than summer, prices are lower, and the hiking conditions are perfect.
• Book your hotel: 4 to 6 weeks in advance
• The Grotto: open with fewer crowds — parking reservations still required
• Chi-Cheemaun ferry: make a reservation
• Pharos Restaurant: open through Thanksgiving weekend
• Highlight: Singing Sands beach at sunset in October light is one of the most beautiful things in Ontario
What to book first on any long weekend
The order of priority is always the same:
• 1. Your hotel room - be mindful, book in advance
• 2. Grotto timed-entry parking permit at reservation.pc.gc.ca
• 3. Flowerpot Island boat tour with your preferred operator
• 4. Chi-Cheemaun ferry if you plan to cross to Manitoulin Island
• 5. Restaurant reservation at Pharos for at least one dinner
Do not leave it too late. Check availability for your long weekend.
