Dear Guests

Please excuse our mess...we are currently undergoing renovations.

We will be adding an additional 20 rooms and Event Space that can accommodate up to 150 people and we anticipate to be completed by Spring 2026.

The Matheson rooms face the construction site and may be noisy at times during the day, but we will do our best to help make your stay enjoyable and comfortable.

We are pretty excited about our renovation project and realize what an inconvenience it can be, but we feel the end result will all be worth it.

During construction elevator use will be limited to hours of operation - Check with front desk associates for operational hours.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we undergo these growling pains.

Sincerely
The Princess Team

Pharos Restaurant: Waterfront Dining in Tobermory, Ontario

Pharos — pronounced "Fah-ros" — is the Greek word for lighthouse. It is the name we chose for the Tobermory Princess Hotel restaurant because it reflects our family history, our connection to this lighthouse-dotted coastline, and the idea of a place that guides people in after a long journey.

The dining room and patio look directly out over Little Tub Harbour and Georgian Bay. On a clear summer evening, you can watch the yachts come in, see the Chi-Cheemaun make her crossing, and catch one of Tobermory's famous harbour sunsets without leaving your seat.

The menu

Our menu is a reflection of our family's roots. Jim and Bessie Kritikos — the founder of our family's Tobermory hospitality story — built his reputation on two dishes above all: his shish kabob and his Georgian Bay whitefish. Both remain on the menu today.

Breakfast

Served daily. Our breakfast menu includes eggs any style, omelettes, French toast, and blueberry pancakes loaded with wild blueberries. The breakfast special starts from $13.95. Each Hotel guest enjoys a discount on their favourite item.

Lunch

Served daily from 11:30am. The lunch menu features salads, sandwiches, homemade burgers, pizza, fish and chips, and a range of lighter options.

Dinner

Served daily from 5:00pm. Dinner is where Pharos shines. The Georgian Bay whitefish is our signature dish — locally caught, lightly seasoned, and cooked simply so the flavour of the fish speaks for itself. We also serve melt-in-your-mouth steaks, shish kebab, and chicken prepared in the traditional Greek style.

The view

Every table in Pharos has either a window seat or direct patio access to the harbour. Our patio is open in spring and summer and seats up to 70 guests. When the weather turns, the dining room is warm and bright — still with full harbour views through the large windows.

Watching the sun set over Georgian Bay from a Pharos patio seat is, genuinely, one of the best things you can do in Tobermory in summer.

Our family story

Our family's hospitality in Tobermory actually began in 1977, when Jim and Bessie Kritikos purchased The Lighthouse Gas Bar and Take-Out on Carleton Street. Over the next decade, they served thousands of travellers coming off the Chi-Cheemaun. In 1987, the family transformed the operation into a full dining room and ran it for another 25 years.

In 1992, the Kritikos family purchased and renovated the building that is now Tobermory Princess Hotel — one of the oldest buildings in the town — and opened the hotel and restaurant. Pharos is the continuation of that tradition.
