Dear Guests

Please excuse our mess...we are currently undergoing renovations.

We will be adding an additional 20 rooms and Event Space that can accommodate up to 150 people and we anticipate to be completed by Spring 2026.

The Matheson rooms face the construction site and may be noisy at times during the day, but we will do our best to help make your stay enjoyable and comfortable.

We are pretty excited about our renovation project and realize what an inconvenience it can be, but we feel the end result will all be worth it.

During construction elevator use will be limited to hours of operation - Check with front desk associates for operational hours.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we undergo these growling pains.

Sincerely
The Princess Team

Staying Near the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry in Tobermory

The Chi-Cheemaun  which means "Big Canoe" in Ojibwe is the iconic passenger and vehicle ferry that crosses Georgian Bay from Tobermory to South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island. The crossing takes about two hours and is one of Ontario's most scenic travel experiences.

Tobermory Princess Hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Chi-Cheemaun terminal at Little Tub Harbour. Whether you are arriving by ferry and staying the night, or departing early the next morning, we are the closest full-service hotel to the dock.

About the Chi-Cheemaun crossing

•  Route: Tobermory (Little Tub Harbour) to South Baymouth, Manitoulin Island

•  Crossing time: approximately 1 hour 45 minutes

•  Operates: May through mid-October (seasonal)

•  Vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and foot passengers all welcome

•  Book at: ontarioferries.com — reservations strongly recommended in summer

Why stay at Princess Hotel before or after the ferry

If you are departing on the Chi-Cheemaun

The morning ferry typically departs early. Staying at Princess Hotel the night before means a 3-minute drive to the terminal on departure day — no rushing, no long drives, no scrambling to find parking.

•  Pharos Restaurant serves breakfast from 7:30am — fuel up before you board

•  Our team can advise on what to see and do on Manitoulin Island before you go

If you are arriving from Manitoulin Island

After the crossing, Tobermory is worth at least one or two nights. Princess Hotel is right in the heart of Tobermory —drive off the ferry and check in within minutes.

•  Harbour view rooms available — watch the next Chi-Cheemaun sailing from your balcony

•  Pharos Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner

What to do in Tobermory after the ferry

Most visitors arriving by Chi-Cheemaun have one or two days in Tobermory. Here is what we recommend:

•  Evening of arrival: walk the Little Tub Harbour boardwalk, dinner at Pharos

•  Day 1: glass-bottom boat tour to Flowerpot Island (departs from the harbour, 5 minutes from hotel)

•  Day 1 afternoon: hike to The Grotto in Bruce Peninsula National Park

•  Day 2: explore the village shops, Big Tub Lighthouse, and Singing Sands beach
